SelfieFish - Classic
Unfortunately, as you may notice by the lack of fish photos,
I have not been able to take a catch photo because I’ve blanked on my last
couple of sessions! However, I’ve had plenty of time doing test shots and have
gained a really good feel for the Selfie Fish so I’m in a strong position to
review this great product.
This nifty bit of kit is something all anglers should have
when it comes to taking photos of their best catch. It’s not every day you can
be out on the bank with a mate who will take those carpy photos of you gazing
into the eyes of your latest prize catch. It’s also not always a good idea to
get a passer by to take a photo. We have all been there when you ask someone
who is clearly not the next David Bailey to take your photo, and the angle is
all wrong and your head has been cropped off! Have no fear though, Selfie Fish
is here to solve all those problems.
The Selfie Fish is your answer to solo catch photos, as you’re
able to take nice catch photos on your phone as if someone was behind the
camera taking it for you! So how does it work? Well, this tidy bit of kit uses
an adjustable phone holder which means you can use most mobile phones which are
50mm to 85mm wide, so you should have no issues with your device fitting. The
holder itself is attached to a 360-ball joint which this is brilliant because
you have so much flexibility that you can adjust the angles precisely – no more
awkward cropping! The unit itself uses a thread, the same size thread used on
most bank sticks. This means you’re using a bank stick to act as a tripod which
is pretty cool. With the adjustability of the bank stick and the ball joint
you’re really able to get that perfect shot every time and best of all it’s
very stable. The build quality is very good, as the only bit of plastic is the
phone holder itself. The rest of the product is a nice robust metal so breaking
the main body would be pretty hard! As always take care when threading it onto
the bank stick to prevent cross threading.
Using your photo is pretty simple. You just need to download
a free voice-activated camera app! I like whistle cam as you just need to whistle,
and it will count down and then take the photo for you. There are other apps
which do the same job so you just need to find one you like. Using these apps
allows you to control the camera without someone else being there and the main
thing is total fish care is present as you’re not running back and forth
setting timers and leaving the fish unattended.

Don’t be Selfish, go Selfie Fish!
